Starting my life over

Well, today I finally chose to do a detox. Basically, I am a 25 almost 26 year old male. I have been a cigarette and weed smoker for about 10 year. I also have become a heavier drinker the further I got into my 20's. Every year it seems to have gotten worse and worse. I wont lie also that some other drugs were abused along that road. While I can say I have not touched drugs in over a year, I would like to finally kick these last 3 demons. Smoking of any type is a horrible thing and I know needs to be stopped. Also the drinking has become problem. Im not violent or anything when I drink....honestly Im just tired of the hangovers, costs, and overall guilt I feel when I get tanked. Since most of my buddies/friends have the same problem, motivation is being sought out here. I guess thats a good intro for now haha.....I know I can do this and It will get done.

Do you have a plan for detoxing? Have you talked to your doctor?
Depending on how much you drank it could be dangerous.

Us Jersey folks have to stick together. LOL
Good Luck.

Good for you that you're wanting to quit at this point in your life. When I was about 27 I started to realize that I should quit, but it took me to age 42 to move from should quit to sincerely wanted to quit.

Good luck and I hope you find the resources you need here. It's a good site.

Welcome Stonecastman

You'll find a lot of support here

I agree its a good idea to see a doctor - especially if you've been drinking regularly for a while.

Good to have you with us

D

Welcome! It takes courage to decide to stop using and drinking - and it's hard to do it alone, so I'm glad you're reaching out for support.

Most of us found that our drinking/using got worse over time and the consequences got worse too. It's great that you're choosing to stop now.

I'm glad you made the decision to quit. You're young, I wish I would have realized my drinking problem at your age.
Instead, it took another 25 years, and believe me, it only gets worse.

Best of luck to you.
