Downster's Back!
Hi all
Joined the site last year and went 5 months without a drink. Was feeling great, lost weight, felt positive and generally got my life back on track. I made the classic mistake that I've read so many other members make of thinking they can drink in moderation now that they are 'back in control'.
Well, it's been 3 months since I 'fell off the wagon' and I'm back to pre-sobriety levels. I generally don't drink in the week but at the weekend I get drunk, 3 nights in a row (Fri-Sun) and then spend the rest of the week wishing I hadn't.
I've been drinking heavily for about 10 years now and wouldn't say that my intake has increased during this period. The trouble is, I just don't think my body can take it anymore and it takes me days to get over a weekend binge whereas 10 years ago I could sweat it out with a 5k run.
This will be my second real attempt at sobriety and I'm going to give it my best shot. I thank you for your support and hope this time I kick it for good!
Cheers

Hi Downster.
Well done for recognizing that alcohol is not working for you. Have you considered having a support network? AA isn't for everybody...but maybe worth a try??
I wish you well in your journey.

Welcome back! Use what you learned last time and build from there. As you found out, staying quit is not always easy. Maybe, add something to your program that you didn't use last time? Best wishes.
