Day 1 not so good well day 1 didnt work gave in late afternoon few glasses of wine tipped half my 3rd glass down the sink and sat down and drank water instead. Determined not to give in today and hopefully tomorrow I can be on day 2. |
I hope you don't mind...I moved your thread to newcomers it's easier to fine you when your in this section/forum. Have you considered asking your doctor about how best to quit drinking? Sometimes withdrawing from alcohol alone is dangerous and it's usually most uncomfortable. All my best ... |
Many of us had a false start of two Odie. I hope you'll consider Carol's suggestion - and maybe think about looking into what else you can do to add to what you've been doing? Ask the Dr if they have any ideas too :) D |
Good luck Odie03, you can do this, keep coming back to SR during the tough times, this site has been a blessing to me. |
The first day is always the toughest, but keeping pushing for that first 24 hours. you may be cranky, crabby, achy and sick, but I felt a real sense of accomplishment. |
Let us know how you're doing today, Odie! |
We're here for support and its a good place to stop by when you're feeling 'low'. Reading others situation and resolves can truly be assuring of your own attempts to quit. We're all in this together...we know how you feel. Good Luck today. |
Maybe you weren't ready yesterday. But today...maybe today is the day you take control! Good luck and welcome. |
That's the spirit Odie - get right back on that horse! Two things really helped me through the first few days. 1) I kept this website up all the time. I kept reading and posting. 2) I kept my cost benefit analysis sheet with me all the time and read it often. You can copy and fill out your own CBA at the SMART Recovery website. Are you using a program? AA or SMART etc. I know you can find more info on various programs on this site. |
