Welcome to SR! You'll find a lot of support here. The 12 steps isn't a competition. It is a program to help you stop drinking. You can find the program at an AA meeting.

Hi,
Thank you for the quick response, I know it is definitely not a competition. I have ordered the BB book everyone has been quoting on here. I feel uncomfortable going to an AA meeting. I was hoping to be able to do the 12 step program with SR. Just being able to be on here and read everyones posts helps a lot. I know I will probably fall off the wagon as they put it but trying to be good one day at time.

Welcome Odie! We're glad you've found us. You will find a ton of support and help here. I am in AA and it has changed my life. I always thought getting better was for other people. I thought that my past and my problems were insurmountable. The good news is I was wrong! We all can get better. It just takes willingness on our part to learn and put certain principle into our lives.

You may "fall off the wagon" but then again, you may not. You certainly don't have to. One of the greatest things I've learned is "we don't know, what we don't know". I've learned so much in recovery and I have finally found a solution for my life that is not alcohol.

Keep coming back and if you are interested in AA give it a shot. What do you have to lose? Best of luck to you! You really can do this!!!
