Day Four PM: I did it!
Day Four PM: I did it!
Well, four down. I even went to karaoke with my husband tonight and drank one tomato juice and two diet pepsis. Yay. I wasn't desperate for a drink and I knew if I had one I wouldn't be able to stop. Maybe a drink would have made the singers better, but my husband got his three songs in, had three drinks, and I drove home and had some Doritos.
Yay--I kept thinking about you guys and what you would say. I won't have a hangover in the morning and will be able to utilize the morning I've saved myself to ride my horse instead of feeling like hell and watching TV.
Thanks y'all. This is not the first time I've wanted to do this, but it is the first time I've pulled it off. I totally know that's because of this list. Thank you.

I made it home sober because I had to post on here that I had. I'm pretty happy. I needed to know I didn't need to change our whole lives. It may sound silly but we live in between two small towns and there's not a whole lot to do. So most of the people we know we see at karaoke. It's not like it is in bigger places. People eat and drink and socialize. Everyone is a bit older. Not a meat market at all. But if I have to stop, then we are going to have real problems figuring out what to do every night. Once a week to this bar is going to be a serious reduction and my husband will still get to see his buddies.
Missy, that is so good!! it took me around 90 days before I could be in a position like that to know I had the strength to say no and have diet coke, so you have done a great job, funny thing for me to is all I wanted to do when the night was over was pop on to SR and share the good news! Well done and I look forward to hearing more about your journey. It gets better and better!!

enjoy your ride and sober morning....and remember how great you feel too. it feels great to be in control of your life doesn't it?"
and i'm betting you have a better scene in the morning bathroom mirror too....clear eyes and not swollen with too much booze evidence...i always hated that.

Glad you made it another day!
Be sure to add new, sober things to your life. I never had much luck staying sober when I just subtracted alcohol from my regular life. It kind of just left a vacuum. You may have a different experience though, just sharing mine

Excellent job! Knowing that I have SR folks behind me really helps me too.
The first time doing anything sober is a bit shaky (scary?), but after a while I found that I actually preferred feeling more connected with what was going on around me. Of course, the hangover-free mornings are a huge bonus.....

Excellent Missy!
Before stopping, I thought life without drinking would be boring and drab. Now I see that sitting in my chair in a drunken stupor was the real boring, drab life.
Enjoy your sobriety, especially the no-hangover mornings.

I am looking forward to building other behaviors--like quilting and sleeping and cleaning the house. I'm setting up Saturday night babysitting gigs so we don't get bored, dinners with other friends, walking...and I love ring's memory of running home to tell SR too.
Nice.

Well done. I remember my first night out without drinking. I couldnt wait to post on here!
I was determined not to miss out on nights out because i stopped drinking. I went out tuesday to watch the football but found it hard and went home.
