Down the drain!

The bottle of wine that has been sitting on my counter since Sunday night is gone. It was half-empty (no half-full optimism for problem drinkers) and I dumped it down the drain last night. I went in and out of the kitchen many times and looked at it but did not touch it. Finally, I knew if I didn't I would drink it at some point tonight and I didn't want to do it. Down the drain it went. I am suprised at how much of a relief that felt. That bottle was taking up too much space in my head - it had to go!

Have you got something stashed away that you want/need to get rid of but have been unable to do it so far? Maybe you should dump it too.

Heck in my first couple days if I had something stashed it would have been an excuse to drink it. so no way do I have something stashed.

Awesome

Good for you.

Down the drain is best. I would throw it away only to go dig it out of the trash the next day or later in the week. Gross I know.

See I still have alcohol in the house. But I have a 23 year old daughter with her own apartment who drinks some but manages it well. I think I'll have her bring a box and put it in her trunk. Over the next while she and her friends might could use it and I won't feel so wasteful...they'll buy it anyway.

I still don't keep alcohol in the house, ever, and it makes life simpler.

Good for you for getting rid of it.

I poured some rum that was in the fridge down the drain Sunday night. It was extremely cathartic.

departure, Isn't it funny that I was checking the forum to see if you dumped the wine? Thanks for the update Although I have never met you, I can completely relate. That is the beauty of this forum and any other support group one turns to.

Good for you! I know what a great feeling it is to start new.

I poured stuff down the drain and then drove to the liquor store.

I can't childproof my world against alcohol. I need to be relieved of the obsession to drink from the inside, not deprived of alcohol from the outside.
