What day do you count as your first day?

Hi there!

I am just wondering what day you count as your first day of sobriety. If I had my last drink at 2:30 a.m. on Saturday the 2nd, went to bed and then haven't had a drink since, is my first day counted as the 2nd or the 3rd? Just wondering

It would have been Friday night/Saturday morning that I had my last drink. Then slept until noon and then woke up and haven't had a drink since.

I don't really consider it that important but if you were born at 2.30 in the morning on a Saturday then that day would be considered the first day of your life.

I always figured my sober date was the last day I used. I guess you could say I wasn't clean that entire day, but i think most people count their sober date as their last date of use. If your born at 12pm, that's still your birthday even though you only lived half the day. obviously, its semantics and means very little, so make it whatever you'd like...

For what it is worth, in the book "Dr Bob and the Good Oldtimers", which is the story of Dr Bob's life, Bill W gave him some beer on June 10, 1935 to steady his nerves for an operation. Even though he had a drink that day, he celebrated his years of sobriety on June the 10th - but he HATED tokens - and June 10th is widely considered to be the birthdate of AA.

It really doesn't matter, just come back here tomorrow and tell us you have another 24 hours under your belt.
