Delurk and Glad to really be here
Hi All
Well I have actually been following the various forums , especially the newcomers forum for a while. In many it it has helped me already yet like many folks, after a sober period, I had a major spree the last few weeks till gee April 1st. I kind of view that as my April Fools , I did not run down to the store and buy my usual , instead , after reading many posts, and unsure how bad my detox was going after 24 hours , I went to my doctor. Not my first visit on this condition with my GP and she really understands alcoholism as best as any non-alcoholic in long term recovery can from what I can tell.
I was paranoid about my symptoms but a check of BP , pulse and basics showed , yes I was detoxing but not so bad. More apparent was I had not slept in 4 days. I got some meds and it eased the hell. I had read thoroughly the posting on what to expect and one theme seemed to be its best to check with a doctor if your unsure.
Sp putting more pieces in place to get toward the right path is joining here and participating. Getting back to AA and counseling is also part of the picture as my best self will and ideas have never really worked longer than 3 months.
I have read so many good posts about when somehow you need a place to remove isolation , SR can be a great resource.
So happy to be here and hopefully I can give and receive the strength we need to achieve a sober and rewarding life

Hi guy - glad you're recommitting to sobriety.....you have a great attitude and you're taking it seriously, which is so important. I relapsed twice, thinking that somehow I would control it "this time." Of course, that's why I'm here....!
For me it was scarier thinking about living sober than the actuality of doing it (although that first week or two wasn't fun)....... This place has been my anchor.
One day at a time.......
