New...Again.

Been on and off this roller-coaster for nearly 20 years. I need to stay sober this time...I have lost everything and life is utterly "unmanageable".

I don't have much support as my family has written me off until they see improvements. Kids were taken from me by the courts, lost my house and most recently my job. All due to drinking. Have neglected everything while drinking...haven't paid bills in months, power will be shut off anyday, driving around an un-insured car, and my license lapsed, no telephone because I haven't paid the bill. And now there is no job to pay anything at all.

I managed to detox myself at home this time, not too bad at all. I am feeling better and started eating. I haven't eaten right in awhile, my hair is falling out and my vision is not good. It's a blessing that I don't have any shakes this time, I am quite surprised. I wasn't able to drink the large amounts I have been accustomed to in the past, my body just wouldn't tolorate it this time around.

Where do I start?

You start right here! You've already started. This is a great place for support and answers.

Any thoughts to programs that help you with addiction to alcohol?

Hi pinkroses

I think even tho you've gotten through detox on your own, a doctor might not be a bad idea as a starting point.

Signing up here is a good step forward too You'll find a lot of support here.

Any plans to look for real life support, like AA or some other recovery group, or counselling maybe?

I think support is very important to lasting success.

Welcome
D

Thanks...going to AA and outpatient. If I cannot stop on my own I'm looking at inpatient again. I need to avoid that, my outpatient would send me there for a 6 month minimum.

Hang in there Pink roses, you can do this just, "One day at a time."
You can get everything back too, if you just do not drink.
Glad that you are in AA and getting some support.
