Hiya Aprilers, How is it going?
I wrote this already on another post, but I am going to change it up a little:
5 things I hate about Day 1:
1. I'm so tired
2. I am sad
3. I am jealous of ppl with more time
4. Bathroom visits aren't pleasant (sorry TMI)
5. I'm angry with myself for starting over again.
5 things I like about Day 1: (OMG this is hard)
1. Hey Hey we all have today!
2. The support of the ppl on here
3. A new beginning
4. The lesson
5. Hope
Yikes finding things I like about day 1 is difficult but they are there if you try, anymore that I forgot?
Hang in there folks

Welcome Turtle228 BellaB and ChuckD
We have a lot of avatar choices on site too Turtle - just go to User CP on the extreme left of the big blue toolbar that runs across the top of every page....
use the drop down menu, scroll down, click 'edit avatar'....you'll find lots of choices there if nothing else comes to mind

Hey all,
I've decided to stop drinking today!
I'm posting in here for the supoort of others to help me keep with it.
Usually I say it to myself but then an offer to drink comes up & I end up taking it.
I'm stopping because while I don't drink every day when I do drink I usually end up blacking out & I don't like it.
I'm putting myself in dangerous situations & drinking is really the only thing in my life that I don't have control over & that is the negative part of my personality.
So I'm going to get back into the gym hardcore & just try to be more self controlled & determined.

Hi Guys, hope you don't mind if I jump into April too. This is my day 1. Had 3 days last week then drank all of this weekend :-(. Feel very ill today and just hope I can make it through and come here tomorrow on day 2.
I really do want to do this but am one of the ones that consistantly caves in. Hopefully this will be the last time I have to get sober.

XwillowX - That's great that you're feeling good! Keep up the good work!
crisplover and almay777 - Glad to have you here. Keep us posted on how you are doing over your first few days.
Today is my 10th day, and I'm feeling alright. I ended up getting a lot of yard work done over the weekend. It was a little shocking actually to realize how bad of shape the yard was in due to years of neglect. I was too busy drinking to work on it. The best part of working in the yard this weekend was that we did it as a family. It was a great time, although now, I'm starting the work week sore and wore out....

Count me in
Just found this thread...
April 9th for me, so I am on day3 and like many of you know, it's a hard one to get through. It feels good to be able to say that I have been sober 6 out of 11 days this month, which is a very good start, but now I have to put all my power into taking command of my sobriety and my life, every moment of every day.
<--- I did a couple of blog posts, just so I can keep track of .. myself (damn short term memory), my days and I hope I can keep adding to it and never start-over again.

I posted in the newcomers thread but I wanted to add my name to the April thread as well.
April 8 is my start date making today day 4. The longest I have gone without wine over the last 10 years is two weeks. When I get beyond that mark, I'll really feel like I can do this! The posts on this site have been a huge source of encouragement. Thank you all!

I guess
I'm April 2011 too. My husband and I celebrated 28 years last week by partying like it was, well, 1999, which used to mean something completely different, didn't it? Really? Still partying like it's 1999? I mean, isn't there something better to do?
So it's day two for me. I love my new hobby--my life. It's not together yet, I'm jittery and panicked, but I can see it from here. I can see that not going to the bar is not not going to the bar--it's going somewhere else. Doing somewhere else. Not worrying about that weird crowd who somehow never occur in my real life...the life where I'm educated and have a home and a family...I've wondered about that.
They're not my friends. I've felt more attachment to people on this list in the past 24 hours than I ever have in a bar.

I'm blogging too
My reason for blogging is that I will want to look back and see how this went. I want to build a text that I can read if I feel like drinking that will remind me of what I'm doing this for.
I honestly just hope that I don't just decide that it's too hard.
I'm off to work.

Deferred maintenance! I haven't done my hard in a year. I haven't cleaned the house. I haven't sorted things. I cannot wait for this weekend to clean up. Please, please let me be able to do that this next weekend. Just this once let me make it to the weekend....
