new and confused about how all this works

Hi i am new to this and needing some support. I am 32 on the 4th and have been drinking alcohol or doing drugs since i was 14. I have been only drinking and taking suboxone for two years. Not to down play ONLY. I have tried to quit drinking in the last week and have only been taking subs. Anyone have any advice for me???? I want to be sober COMPLETELy and take care of my children.

Hi Rissy
Welcome to SR

I think support is vital.
Have you tried any recovery groups like AA/NA SMART etc or is SR your first stop?

I don't know anything about suboxone. I think your prescribing Dr is the best person to talk to there if you want to get off those tho

Welcome Rissyk,

You will find support on here

Also you should research the internet and find something that will fit your needs for a good recovery. It would be ok to discuss this with your doctor as well.

You know what you have to do, so just take it one step at a time, and you will get there.

Good luck to you and your recovery,

Stacy

Happy early Birthday Rissy! And welcome.
I don't know anything about the subs...but I'm an expert on the drinking. LOL Hopefully, your attempt to quit this week is working?
We all want to get sober for one reason or another but the best reason is for ourselves.
Glad you're here.

I am with Dee.

First...make an appointment to see your doctor and be completely honest.

Ask the doctor for help.

Seek local support such as AA. It helps me very much.

Create a strong network of sober people around you.
