Bokkie, I tried to private message you but I have to have 5 posts first, I just want to tell you how similiar our stories and feelings are and you made me feel better when you told your story. Thank you.
Action, action, and more action. Put some nice relaxing music on and get some stuff done. Don't be overwhelmed. Take things one at a time. If you dish's are piling up, then do them. You'll feel better once it's done. If we sit and wait for the desire to pass, it often doesn't...
Are you open to going to an AA meeting? That's helped me more than anything. Our disease wants us to feel like 'WE CAN'T DO THIS'. The truth is, we can. We have. And we continue to.... not drink.
Hang in there - you can do this!!!

Everyone also told me I didn't need to stop...last night, my husband said, "You seem so much calmer and happier. I think you should stay sober.". he's even cutting back, and I swear, the evenings are damn great. But I had to learn to share my obsession/recovery here on SR and in AA. my husband doesn't understand, and nor should he. i knew what I had to do, and so do you. Also, there in an on-line AA called "Lamplighters," where I found a great sponsor. Good luck.
Like a lot of us, you've likely done a lot of damage to your mind, your body, and your spirit..over a long period of time.. it doesn't heal in a day.
That kiddo and that dog probably love you unconditionally, be kind to them
It takes a while to undo the damage we've done.. be patient, as hard as it is, get medical help if necessary.

I hope you feel better and enjoy your child and your dog today.
It's hard, but you can do it.
My advice would be to not worry about what your family is saying. They may mean well, but it's really hard for others to understand this disease. Follow your heart and do what you need to do.
