Hi!! Seeing the doctor tommarow.
I want to think this forum for helping me see that people can stay sober. Up till recently I had 2 years sobriety and then things changed. I never seeked help at all and that was my mistake. I never addressed any issues and just thought that not drinking solved everything. Well I was wrong! See I only quit for someone else and not me.
That realationship did not last and the short story is I gave up everything to be here. Moved, sold my house, quit my job..all for love. See the sad part at the time before I moved I was looking for a fantasy. I never knew the person I moved to be with cause I was always drunk when I talked to them. My days of sobriety ended when I become homeless. Bitter and broke I turned back to alcohol.
I have manged to accomplish alot even while drinking. New job, place to live..etc. However, I miss the days of being sober. I can no longer handle the symptoms of withdraw! I have never gone to see a doctor for this but thanks to these boards I learned it was very dangerous!! So I will be going to urgent care tommarow. Was going to try to go cold turkey tonight but started feeling a bad pressure in my head... I cannot afford the ER so I bought some beer. Have been trying to wean myself of all weak but now know thats foolish.
Anyways, thanks for all those who contribute here you are motivation and educators.

Welcome Rusty! Glad you are here. Yes, alcohol withdrawal can be deadly. Glad to hear that you are going to see a DR--especially since this will be your first time doing so. Remember: just be honest with the medical staff. They are there to help you. Plus we (at SR) are here to help with peer support. You can do it! Recovery is possible.
You are not alone. We do recover.

Good to see that your reaching out for help. Did your doctor give you any good therapist? I ask because when you go on a meds like lorazepam, you will need to have a therapist to get the most out of the drug.
Good luck with your recovery!!

They gave me contact numbers but its up to me to call. Will do that when I'am at the shop for my jeep. Wish treatment was not so much money.. Austin Recovery is like 5600 dollars for a month. They always price out some people.(no insurance)!
I will use this and A.A instead..tell later notice.
