It's friday, and it's been a very long time since I've been sober during the weekend. kinda scary....but i'm trying to hang in there.

Keep busy! Do something different.....break the normal cycle.......go to a movie......the mall, whatever.........try not to sit around dwelling on it! Do you go to a gym? Post away here!!!!!!! Hang tough, you can do this!

Think what a productive and happy weekend you can have without a hangover. You will be happy tomorrow if you go without tonight!

It's scary. But once you get a weekend under your belt you'll see you can do it. And when Sunday night rolls around you will be soooo glad you didn't drink.

Good luck.

Vicious is right, PF. I'm with you. I am on day 16, but today is the hardest one yet. I've been posting nearly all day on this site. Finally, had to get out of the house. I don't know why I want to drink. Went back through my posts from this week and today, and I feel schizophrenic because I want to drink so bad, but was so on board even this morning.

So...distract yourself. I have been using food to replace the loss of booze calories. And, I've gained 8 lbs., but I still feel healthier.

Keep this site open and run to it during cravings. It works on smart phones as well.

Yes, Dee is right, don't get overwhelmed.

And, getting through the weekend will make you so much stronger.

The only way to do it... is to do it.

"Scared" is just fear of the unknown. Expect it to feel weird, expect to feel at loose ends and like you don't know what to do with yourself. It's all temporary. It takes quite awhile to feel "normal" not drinking, but it does happen.

The first sober Friday. Uncharted territory. I remember it well and, like you, wondered how I'd get through it. You do it without drinking, that's how. Then next Friday, and the one after that. For me, after 30 sober Fridays, it seems normal not to associate Fridays and weekends with drinking.

But you have to get through this one first. Good luck.

Hang in there! My first Friday was difficult and scary too. I drove around town for awhile and ate a lot of fast food trying to fill that emptiness. It wasn't a good time, but at least I was out of the house and sober.
