Healthy Snacks

I am 44 days sober and 10 pounds heavier. I let it happen, and I accept full responsibility. Now it's time to develop better eating habits. I prepare healthy, low fat meals, its the snacks I have a problem with. Here's what I have so far...

Celery with peanut butter
Apples with peanut butter
Low fat mozz string cheese
Low fat yogurt
Plain fruit,all kinds
Low fat cottage cheese with canned fruit in natural juice

I'm going to work out now. Putting in a 30 minute workout video. Any and all suggestions welcome. Be back in 10.

Trail mix is delicious. I like the type with nuts, cranberries, raisins. But I have to portion it out or use the individual packets so I don't overdo it.

Also sparkling juice over crushed ice eaten with a spoon. If you fill a cup with ice chips and add the juice, you are really only drinking 1/2 cup. So I can do this twice a day!

Wheat crackers
Granola Bars
Carrots

If I need a sweet I try to limit it to something small like a Hershey Kiss, it can satisfy sweet tooth without a bunch of calories

I was never that big of a snacker but here are some things I've done since quitting drinking:

- no fast food
- almost no more chips
- eat more fruit
- eat cereal for breakfast instead of eggs/bacon
- less red meat (some is still ok, but less)
- smaller portions in general (this is KEY)
- no pasta or heavy carbs late at night

Hope that helps.

You might consider cutting out the peanut butter as a snack. Two tablespoons has almost 200 calories, most of it from fat.

I snacked like I drank, meaning I couldn't moderate. I've found it easier to just not snack anymore.

I love salads. My only weakness is all the stuff I add to them. But cukes, pea pods, shredded carrot and red cabbage are yummy...its all the RANCH I drowned it in. Hehe

I love Laughing Cow light cheese. The garlic herb is my favorite. It is 35 calories per wedge. I put it on Wasa whole grain crackers.

Boiled egg
Almonds
half a protein low carb bar
fresh cranberries
