Hey Willow,
I recently started going to AA. At first it was hard. ANXIETY! I could not hold my attention long enough to hear what anyone was saying. Did I fit in? I thought not. BUT I have been going very regular and am only now beginning to get more comfortable and open with people. I am getting to know faces (and talk to a few people). It is a great release for me as my heads spins 24/7. Now I mostly close my eyes and listen to what people are saying. It is really helping me look at things in a new way. I am recently seperated (we have a kid) the emotions are high. But AA meetings are really helping me deal!

I think its awesome that you made it out, and felt good about it. It gets better, but it is a process. I dont know your story, but I hope reaching out will help you. I am now shaking hands, saying hi, and get the occasion hug (which is nice). It just takes time to get comfortable. My goal a few weeks ago was to "try" to say hi to 1 new person each meeting. I didnt do it 100% but a couple weeks later I am doing pretty good with it.

Keep it up!
Right on for taking that step.

Peace!
J

willow, Thanks for posting that ! It did my heart good to read it. We are always amazed at the strength we have inside. It took some real guts for you to walk in there, I know, I've been there.

I look forward too more of your posts.

WTG! XWillowX.

I too have social anxiety. That it is very big accomplishment to be able to do what you want to do in spite of being highly anxious.
