Hi Paul, and welcome. Today is my 26th without a drink (after drinking almost every day for 35 years) and I feel really good. The first 2-3 days are definitely the worst. The withdrawl symptoms and cravings decrease dramatically after that. Hang in there!

I hope AA works for you. If it doesn't, don't give up. There are lots of other programs that work for lots of people. All the best man!

I agree that you can go to bed if that will help you.

You can go out for a long walk, call a friend, play with your pet, do whatever it takes to get through the moment. It will get easier for you.

Hi Paul, WELCOME & if you're still up - GO TO BED!! I didn't sleep more than a couple of hours at a time for the first few nights, but this is seriously draining & even just resting in bed is better than pacing the floor, or worse going off to find a drink.

Prayers with you for a peaceful night - the sober morning will more than make up for tonights discomfort.

Thanks all. Called the helpline and went to a meeting in the end. Met some amazing people and got myself centred again.

Thank God I'm going to bed sober tonight.

Morning. Well, afternoon actually. Took one of the sleepers my doctor gave me at about 11pm last night and just woke up at 12:15pm today.

Wish I'd just had a normal nights sleep actually. Not sure these pills are a good idea, but at least it was another sober day.

Just got to pray for the strength to have another one today. Got a meeting at 8pm tonight so that will be my focus.
