Self pity and recovery
We today is number 20 for me Im doing good but a little depressed or is it self pity ? I don't know but I am working on revoving the self pit:ghug3:ghug3y out of my life so I can be more happy and get well sooner.
This how Im going to do it
Exercise
The power of choosing
Throw pity out/ out of self pity
Stop powering others or forgive and forget
Stop comparing
Create a positive force around me

riptide,
For years I confused self-pity for depression. I think just having the awareness that self-pity can seem like depression puts you ahead in the game! For me, I'll sit down and really think about it. I also make a gratitude list.
Are you seeing a therapist or a qualified mental health care professional? It might not be a bad idea to get an assessment if the feelings persist so you know how to proceed.
Congrats on your 20 days!
Love,
Lenina

Congrats riptide. A good tool to measure whether you're feeling true hurt of if you're in self pity is the one day limit. Give yourself no more than one day to think about something that has hurt you or made you upset. I have been told if you stay in your own sh!t for more than a day then it's obvious you are getting something from it.
Self pity and anger can be very comforting for us. They can also be extreemley self destructive. Self pity is just another form of Ego IMO. When my ego tells me I'm good, it just doesn't say you're good, "it says I'm the best ever, I can't do anything wrong, people are actually lucky to know someone as cool as me"!! BUT, when my ego tells me I'm bad, it doesn't just say you're having a tough time, it say "You suck, nobody likes you, you can't do anything right, your a failure, etc..."
Both are forms of ego. The best answer for self pity, is action. Help another person. If your in a relationship, do something nice for the other person. If you have kids, take them to the park, if you have parents tell them how much you love them and how grateful you are for them, if you're at work help someone else without asking, etc...
Anything to get out of self. I promise you - it works everytime!!!
Congrats on 20 days! You're doing great!!!
