Morning of day 17

I woke up today feeling great and in a best possible mood. It's been a rough couple of weeks but I'm finally starting to feel good again.

This is the longest I have ever made it and my second attempt at sobering up. I had 11days at one point but slipped up for a couple of weeks. I'm happy to be back and with 17days without a drink.

Reality is starting to kick in now and I'm starting to think straight again, it's pretty scary what i've put myself through and I'm happy and thankful to be alive and here. Something I couldnt have said a few weeks ago.

I was sober for 37 days.. I was SURE I was done.. I used the "Marijuana maintenance program" to get through it (I have smoked it my whole adult life) in an instant I had a bad day and had my first beer. It was all over.. after five days that I can barely remember I recovered and realized I had to be completely sober of everything to stop for good.. Here's to us!! :c031: Now on day 4.. starting all over again.. COMPLETELY SOBER!!

Hi Rez,
Congratulations on 17 days!!! I'm right there with you. I'm finding that each and every sober day is a reason to celebrate. :c011:

Keep coming back. You CAN do this.

This is day 9 for me Rez. I feel great. I too used the marijuana maintenance plan in my previous unsuccessful attempts to quit drinking. Not this time. I love waking up early and not needing 3 cups of coffee just to barely function. Now I just enjoy my morning coffee for the flavour. Keep it up!

Nice job, Rez! Glad you're starting to feel some of the benefits!

That's awesome! Keep me posted on your success.. It's day 6 for me.. I had a 40 day run right before this..I can't believe I blew it! I was staying high is why. No Marijuana for 9... This is the first time since I was 18 being sober off of weed.. I keep wondering in these last few days why I kept getting high? I don't even miss it really.. I do have to say I am having TERRIBLE nightmares and vivid dreams.. I woke up last night in absolute horror.. Wow. I had no idea I was doing that to myself with THC! I guess that is a common withdrawal symptom. You know how you really can't explain a dream? Well, the only way I can explain it is like being in a real-life horror movie and not being able to wake up. Once I woke up, I felt like I was in a haunted house. Never experienced anything like that! Anyways, I feel pretty great otherwise! Anybody else experience anything like this before?

Good for you, Rez!

I remember, at about 3 weeks sober, becoming aware of how much I had been harming myself physically (not to mention spiritually and mentally). It really hit me that I was very lucky to be alive.

Hi SingerChic

I destroyed my life twice over -once on pot and then with booze, so like you I found the only way to really be free was to be abstinent :)

Welcome to SR :)

Come back to SR every night. One sober day day at a time - Lather, Rinse, Repeat. Your brain will love you for not ingesting booze and pot.
