I took the jump

Hi,
Yesterday I took the jump and told my husband and son (who was home for a visit) that I have made a decision to get help with my drinking addiction. They obviously were very happy to hear this news and are VERY supportive. I feel a sense of relief just getting it off my chest but I'm scared to death as to what to expect. Change is not easy for me but I know I need to do it. I'm looking forward to feeling like so many of you do.... happy without drinking! I'm looking for a good alcohol counselor that I can get help from. Day one is under my belt and working on #2! I believe SR is going to be the help I need also to pull me through and keep my recovery under check! Thank you to all of you!

Dancer, YAY!!! You still no doubt will have some struggles ahead, but in my experience I would say the worst is over. That first admission to yourself and then to your family takes walking through some real fear!! You did it!! Knowing you have support at home can make all the difference.

I'm soooo happy for you.

Thank you to all of you!!! It is such a relief to have you all in my corner! I feel like I have known all of you forever! Day 2 behind me and feeling good. Trouble sleeping last night but I know it will get better. Had a small gathering at my house tonight and there was wine drinking and it didn't bother me at all. I had my sparkling mineral water. :-)

I love my sparkling mineral water---in many different flavors. Ice cold. Yum.

Welcome to SR, dancer1, hope to see more posts from you in the days to come.
