Screwed up, but still hopeful.
Hi all,
I made it to day 8 and then screwed up again...this was my second attempt to quit. I was feeling so healthy and doing well, why did I have to go and blow it?? It seems that stress and work anxiety are my most dangerous triggers. I thought it would be social situations but surprisingly, that didn't bother me so much as long as I had a diet coke or something non alcoholic to drink instead.
So here I am, back at day 1. Hoping I can do better this time.
Anyone have advice on how to handle stress/anxiety triggers? I'd love to hear some good ideas I can try!
Thanks for reading!!

My recovery required a lot of changes ..not drinking was simply
the beginning.
I too re started my sobriety .more than once ...until I learned how to
live sober via living the AA steps...
Have you checked out your local AA?

I'm with Carol and Stu: I had to change my Self in order to stay sober. I had to change my thinking, my attitude, my perspective - everything. I also learned that to be grateful for my blessings goes a long way in keeping me sober. I'm so grateful for all I'm blessed with that it would make no sense to mess it up by drinking, and I'm a very logical person. Gratitude gives me so many reasons to stay sober... and not one reason to drink.
