I am so sorry about your kitty. Cats are such special pets - I really love my cat and he's so soothing and calming to me in my life. He is a special friend.

If it's your cat's time....try and remember not to feel guilt about putting him down. As much of a friend that he has been to you, he needs you more than anytime in his life - to help him end his suffering.

I do hope the vet is able to say he just needs some extra help and he's going to be all right.

VC...I am so sorry as well...I am in cat rescue and have lost many through the years. I may be that he has something they can do for him...let me know what your vet says. A friends cat went thru the same thing and it was kidney problems but she made it at 14 years old. Again, so sorry...I love my kitties too!

There is a time for all of us to leave this planet.
Yes...it's often sad .......shareing this in hope it helps VC

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

My heart goes out to you vc...putting a pet to sleep is one of the saddest experiences in the world. It's been a couple years for me since that day....I only remember the good times today.

((((VC)))) - I know how hard this is. I came back from a long weekend away, had my then-bf's mom looking after my cats, and one of them was in renal failure. It was too late, and I had to have him put down. I couldn't stay in the room, and I cried for a long, long time. Hell, I STILL cry sometimes, but he did have a good life.

My Elvis (the black cat) has FIV and leukemia, and I've promised I won't let him suffer, but the very thought of losing him (or any of my others)..well, I don't want to think it because it just hurts too bad. I will hold to my promise though...I don't want any of my furbabies to suffer just because I can't let go. It's hard though.

I'm sending lots and lots of hugs and prayers your way.

Amy

I know exactly what you are feeling. To be responsible for him and how it feels like you have to make certain decisions for him and what right do you have? We must make certain decisions for them.
It hurts way down deep. I had a cat for 18 years. She was like my child...I didn't have children. She lived from 1987 to 2005

Love him...he loves you. You two will never be separated except in body.
He will always be with you. He does not want you to suffer either.

I remember the agonizing pangs of love I had for my kitty when she got uncomoftable. It's making me cry now. She kept wanting to go outside to this bird bath to drink...she was nearly blind and deaf. I had to help her down.

You know when it's the right time. Be brave.

Go ahead and cry. Cry as much as you need to.

This could very well be the biggest emotional upset you have experienced since you got clean. What ever you do, don't pick up and use. Your spirit will awaken as this passes. Be open and honest about your feelings.

Bless you,
Missy

RIP my sweet sweet Baker.

Thank you all for taking the time to post. I woke up this morning and came here and was overwhelmed with all your responses. Baker was put down last night. May he rest in peace my blessed friend. I miss him, I keep expecting him to come around the corner....there is still a small dent in the pillow where he liked to sleep. Thought I felt him jump on the bed this morning......thought I heard him purring....I feel so empty.........but his suffering is ended.

I was watching something on TV
the other night about cats and it
was so funny, cute, adorable....
all the feelings we have for our
cats and pets.

When I got my 2 cats yrs. ago
they werent infants or babies
.....they were almost a yr old
I guess.....My
gus was always big...lol

Same as my 1st son...he was
almost a 10 lb baby, so we skipped
the infant clothes and went straight
to toddlers....lol

Anyway....kittens are soooooo
funny arent they....the show
showed many cute things they
do and was glad I saw it.

Ur Baker looks similar to the
TV cat star Morris....Morris the cat.

Baker looks so cute sitting there
in front of those papers.

My spouse who was married for
35 yrs. where is wife passed away
due to illness, had many pets and
he would be the one to run them
to the vet if they were sick or had
to be put to sleep. He told me that
after the last one he had he wouldnt
get anymore because of the emotional
strain it was placed on him.....then
here I come, his second wife and
Im carting 2 cats and a bird....lol

Well....we chatted about this topic
together and he is very strong and will
be a plus in helping me when the time
comes that my babies leave me.

As many times we make a trip to
Petco and I see the many pets
waiting to be adopted its hard
to imagine going thru the rest of
my life without a little pet. Even
after my 3 pass on.

It's that love and compassion we have
for our furry friends.

Hang in there, remember time has a special way of healing our wounds...I had to go through this a few years ago w-my 19 year old Siamese and it was just as you are feeling...terrible, balled my eyes out for hours. Best wishes to you and your time of healing.

(((VC))) - I'm sorry, but I wouldn't doubt that ((Baker)) is sending you signs that he's okay, now, romping around on Rainbow Bridge. He was a handsome fella!

It's so hard...we love them enough to let them go and not suffer, but darned...we sure suffer the grief. It's totally normal to grieve. To most of us, they are family. Feel what you feel, and know we're all here for you.

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

awww, Baker, what a cool cat.

He will always be the boss of you , and something tells me you won't mind.

Irreplaceable, that one is.

May he rest in peace, and may you live in peace.

Don't pick up, no matter what.

cyber hug,
Missy
