I did lose weight, and I was pretty happy about it! My weight was always in the healthy range but the weight I'm at now is the one that's healthy for me. I lost 17 pounds, and I'm a 5'5" female so it was a pretty significant loss! It sounds like you're making healthier choices in general. Good for you. That's tough to do early in sobriety, especially because many of us crave the carbs we used to get from alcohol and eat a lot of sugar to make up for it!

When I don't drink, I loose that bloated look. My face is more defined. My stomach is flatter, especially first thing in the morning.

I also feel like I have more energy and can do more. So I think being active helps.

Good for you. Hope you feel better.

xx

I'm pretty much the same. Whatever calories I've lost by not drinking is offset by eating more.

I put on a bit at first as I was stuffing my face with crap to help with the cravings but overall have lost about 30lbs in the last year.

I'm doing the same thing, Chopper! Ick.

However the last two times I quit smoking (am a serial nicotine quitter too) I lost weight, which is not most peoples' experience.

No, & I expected to. I definitely developed a sweet craving I never had before, and my appetite increased.

I'm really hoping to lose weight once I quit (if I can stay quit!!) Alcohol and all the drunken/hungover junk-eating is what's responsible for the 'excess baggage' situation I've got going on here!!

I ended up losing weight....nothing drastic at first just over time my body became slimmer and more healthy. Pretty easy to understand though since I removed alcohol and soda (I would drink absurd amounts of cola when I drank) and began eating healthier meals throughout the day. Took time for my body to get back to where it should have been but that is what happened to me.

Keep it going!!
