day 2 - what to expect?
Hi Enigma
welcome
The first few days for me were always rough - I felt weak and jittery, I had anxiety, didn't sleep much, I sweated a lot, sometimes I felt hungry but other times not.
This is a thread of members experiences in quitting:

Have you seen a Dr? It's often a good idea - especially if you've been drinking for a long time.
Good to have you with us - you'll find a lot of support here

Hey Enigma,
I withdrew pretty heavily from cocaine and alcohol during my first month of recovery. I can't say exactly how it is for you but my state of mind had a lot to do with how it went for me. If you keep thinking positive you will have more of an ability to ride out the cravings. The first week is going to be hard but IT DOES get easier as you progress further into recovery. I hope it all goes ok for you.

Expect the addicted part of your brain to try to convince your rational, thinking mind that everything is okay. That you don't have a problem, that you can control it.
Ignore it!
Don't know your using history, but I echo Dee concern, seek medical detox. Withdrawal from alcohol and benzos can be worse than difficult, they can be deadly.

The first week is really really tough. I was overcome with sadness, would see a dead squirrel in the street and weep about it like it was a human. Whatever comes at you, anxiety, sadness, irritbility just fight through it because its better than reeking like booze and having a hangover.
I think my final detox went rather smoothly (comparatively), but I distinctly remember a Day 2 lying in bed and hearing a marching band playing. That was kind of upsetting, but I think the band was pretty good. I also went back and forth between being really hot and sweating, and being really cold and sweating.
I certainly recommend speaking with a doctor about detoxing from alcohol. But in my experience, each detox has been different in levels of intensity and in what I experienced.
