An idea for instant help when in crisis.
I had an idea.
You know how sometimes when we post, there is a delay for responses?
Well, if it is a crisis...perhaps go back to page which shows users online, and click on them and send a pm saying that you are in need of some instant support to not drink.
PM until you can find someone that responds back and can "talk" with you until it passes.
Of course one can call an AA 24 hour hotline to speak with someone as well.

Thanks for the idea V.... - I get the odd PM myself...but I know sometimes I'm wrapped up in posting or administration, and I can't always get to PMs instantly either. I expect other folks may have the same problem.
The chat room here is always an excellent resource for instant help tho - and it's open 24/7
It's accessed by the big blue toolbar that runs across the top of every page - look for 'chat room' on the right hand side, click it, and use the pull down menu to enter

Yeah, I have a habit of staying logged in even during the day when I'm at work, and even at night when I'm asleep.
So I kinda hesitate to recommend that to someone in crisis--you could wait hours to hear back from ME.
What sometimes works is to post a new thread with "Urgent--Need Help NOW!" in the title--that should catch the attention of anyone who is actually online and reading the forum.
