I often visit the 'friends and families of alcoholics' forum

It gives me more and more reasons (besides the many I already have) to stay sober so as not to wreck anyone's lives or hurt those I love. I know my kids were distraught over my drinking and failing to keep my promises to stay sober. They are so glad today for my sobriety and being a decent responsible person again. I feel so bad reading of the hell that alcoholics put their friends and families thru and I pray that the alcoholics in their lives can find and actively pursue recovery.

I also pray that those in unbearable situations can get themselves (and kids) out of the mess so that they can live happy lives without all that chaos. No one should have to live in that hell.

Agreed. I have a number of friends who have been married to addicts. I am 100% supportive of them getting out of those relationships.

I am profoundly grateful that during my drinking career I did not marry and have kids.
