There's MORE to quitting drinking.......

than quitting drinking!

Dr Paul O., author (of the book as titled above)

"Alcoholism is both a drinking and a thinking problem. Recovery can't take place without abstinence, but abstinence alone is not recovery".

An overview of some of the topics discussed in his book:

There's more to the disease, alcoholism, than a bad habit or stupid way of responding to life's problems.

Physical sobriety

Mental sobriety

Spiritual sobriety

Interpersonal sobriety

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~t~~
I has been my experience (for my life and personal knowledge and dealings with several hundred alcoholics over the last 10 yrs.) that simply putting "the plug in the jug" is not enough.
If I do not actively participate in a formal program of recovery, make significant changes, build a new character (person), have a psychic change/spiritual awakening, take the steps in application, I end up discontented, irritable and a never satisfied mind.
There IS a solution........Thankfully it has been shown to me.
When I was merely abstinant I wasn't happy. It wasn't until I started working on myself that I found happiness and contentment. Practicing gratitude every day helps me stay sober and happily so. When I'm happy with my life I don't want to drink.
Great book--I bought it last year. His passage on acceptance is my favorite part of the BB.
Would've loved to meet him--and his wife, Max.
It is my hope that people new to sobriety will realize they can not just stop drinking.
I tried it for so many years I'm not even sure how long it was.
Most people are in fear about going to AA.
WHAT IF IT GAVE YOU A LIFE BEYOND YOUR DREAMS?
