Thumbs up TOPIC: Hi. I'm Sharon. I am an Alcoholic. Who R U?

Hi, Im Sharon. I'm an Alcoholic.

Who are you?

I'm not new to sober recovery
I've been sober since August 11, 1990.

Family intervention placed me on
the door steps of recovery where
I spent 28 days in rehab and set
on the path of recovery using the
tools and knowledge of my alcoholism
to live by one day at a time.

I am here today continueing to
pass on that knowledge that
was so freely passed on to me
to you.

I have 2 cats, one bird, second
marriage after a 25 yr marriage
ended. Love tattoos, taking trips
on our Road King, going out to eat.

Glad to be a member of an awesome
community of members in recovery
here in Soberrecovery.

I'm a single 'empty nest-er' and my family consists of three dogs and two cats. I've been sober almost 14 months now and loving it. I'm disabled and stay at home a lot so SR is my 'home within a home'. I've been living in the same rental house for almost 22 years and love my home and my neighborhood and my great neighbors. I have four kids, all girls, and all are grown and on their own... and I'm happy with that. I have four grandkids, all boys. I rarely travel out of state except once a year in the summer to go up north to visit my oldest daughter and her family.

I love living sober and wish I'd done it sooner, but am just glad I did it at all.

Howdy Sharon,

I'm invisigoth. I'm married since 2006 we've got 3 cats and no kids. I'm still working on sobriety but making progress. SR has been a real help to me, got some nice people round here.

Soberrecovery is a great
tool to use in our recovery.

Where else can you find
care, support, fellowship
with only a click away.

Even tho we r many miles
away from each other, we
are just a smile away from
another.

A giggle away. Laughter,
chuckle, step, seat, walk,
iphone, frown, open arms,
encouragement and so on
away.

Here I am today browsing
the net for that next perfect
tattoo picture. It's dreary and
misting outside but still got
in my car to ride around to
keep my car charged up.

Why, well....im not working
and really don't need to get
out to spend unnecessary money,
so my car sits outside with no
use. Not good on my battery.

Anyway, Im home sitting in
my favorite chair with my
laptop on my lap sharing with
you guys where ever you are
located in the world. Keeping
me company and me you.

Again, Im Sharon. I am an
alcoholic passin a good time
with my fellow recoverying
members here in SR.

Hello! I am in my mid 20s, and have a dog that is like a best friend. I've tried getting sober a few times and failed but here I am again on day 40 and trying to take it a day at a time.

Nice to meet all of you guys.

I try to imagine sitting at a large
round or square table filled with
with 40 or more members as we
go around introducing ourselves
sharing a little bit about us to the
room.

Or just freely share whats on ur
mind.

It's a great way to meet new
members and refresh our
memories of old members.

Hello, my name is Cathy and I am an Alcoholic.

Thanks to a wonderful support system, I will celebrate 17 years sober in April. I have two Sons, a 19 year old, who is with my ex-husband, I lost both of them due to my drinking and have not seen either in over 18 years (I still have hope of finding him one day) and a 15 year old who has never know a Mom who drinks. I live with my younger Son and two Cats.

I lost my Dad last February to Cancer, I am still a little in shock that he is gone, but I am so grateful to have the years with him Sober that I did. I know he was proud of me, that is something only sobriety could bring. I am also grateful to be able to help my Mom through the difficult times.

I am 45 years old, on my way to 50, at which point I will be officially Stunning. I am proud of the person I am today. I have forgiven myself for being an Alcoholic, and I am grateful for everything in my life, good, bad and inbetween....because all of these things have made me who I am today.....a good...no, a great Mom to my Son, a good Daughter, Sister, Aunt and Friend...and I can honestly say, I love me today.

I can say all of these things because of God, AA and the support of others in recovery. I am truly grateful to everyone here, I may not post as much as I used to, but I read A LOT, and you all help me to stay sober everytime I log onto SoberRecovery..Thank You.

Thank You Sharon, for the Great Thread

Cathy

Hi Sharon!! Ms Cooter Brown here...rip roaring drunk for YEARS..finally put the brakes on..I woke up one day and couldn't stand myself! Made myself sick. SO I quit. That was 8/22/10. Made it to 10/3-went to a birthday party..shot some shooters and started my date over. Still can't believe I did that!!! Anyway..not looking back. Happily sober these days..I finally broke loose of a 25 yr Space Oddessy that all started when I got married in a copter over Las Vegas at 9PM...we were as lit as the city. Anyway..I have left the insanity behind. New start for me. It is like I just woke up one day. I am VERY grateful for sobriety and can't believe it didn't dawn on me years before. Nice thread!!

I live in Florida on the Space Coast with my wife and two of my daughters. I am a mechanic at a dealership. I have had the same Harley for 21 years and will never buy a car, for myself that is. I am in my third year of sobriety, and no coincidence, my third year without handcuffs. I have 8 months left on house arrest and I am a free man, so 9/15/11 I will be saying goodbye to Florida for a while and me and the old lady will be rolling West till we hit the Ocean...... Till then I will continue to live this incredible life that has been given to me and helping others as much as I can. I am truly grateful that I didnt give up before the "miracle" happened. Just sayin...

Hi I am Libby and I am an alcoholic. I have over 2 weeks now though in the past I have had 5 months and then six.

I feel God has given me a chance and wants me to live a healthy life. On December 23, driving in a blackout, I wrecked my car into a telephone pole and flipped my Jeep. No other cars were involved thank God. I went to the hospital and by God's grace all I had was a minor head injury and a lasceration on my neck from the seat belt. If that isn't Providence, I don't know what is. I believe it was a sign from God to put a plug in it and start my recovery from scratch and work my program to the fullest degree possible.

I guess that is me in a nutshell currently.

Thumbs up

We all have a story with in us
to tell and share. It gives hope
to those just beginning their
journey in recovery.

Coming home from a local
club back in Feb. 90, driving
while drunk, I hit a 2 ft notch
cut out in the road flying off
and hitting a concrete culvert
sitting on top the ground.

That mishap landed me in the
hospital for 10 day with them
removing my punctured spleen
so I wouldnt bleed to death.

I was banged up pretty badly
but recovered in 3 to 4 months
vowing to never drink and drive
again.

In August 1990 my cravings for the
night life and drinking called
me out again, this time to return
home safely, but a heated argument
led me to engulfing pain pills
to end my failures once and for
all.

However, that wasnt to be, because
here I am, a testimony to recieving
help I so needed with a family
intervention, a 28 day stay in rehab,
a 6 week outpatiant aftercare
program, meetings and holding
on for dear life till the miracles
began to happen in recovery.

I can honestly share that the
miracles r still happening even
after 20 yrs sober.

Im not about to give up now.
There's the excitement of what's
gonna happen around the corner.

Hold on guys, because it will
be the same for you.

My name is Juan and I'm an alcoholic. I'm in my early 30's and I've been sober a little over 7 months now. Gosh this has to be the best I've felt in over 10 yrs. Last june I rolled my vehicle and walked away without any injuries (not even a scratch). I'm gonna take that as my sign to stop drinking and so far I've been doing pretty good. I've been going to outpatient treatment and attending a couple of AA meetings a week. I really like this site to share and to read others stories. Thanks

Hi! My name is Brenda and I am an alcoholic....Mother of 2 boys, 1 dog and a husband. LOL! My sobriety date is 10/6/10....As a couple others have said I totaled my car while in a black out...Not a scratch on me....That was definitely my final warning. I went to my first AA metting the next evening and have maintained sobriety one day at a time every since. I am happy to be a part of SR....Great post Sharon!
