I'm glad to be alive...
So I've been on this forum for at least a year and if not more.
And I've been on and off these forums. Kind of like I've been on and off being sober.
Anyways
I drank a lot last Friday, and ended up in the hospital. Ended up outside in
the snow for an hour, until someone found me, and called my friends. This
was around 1 AM in the morning. They took me back and I collapsed an fell
right on the cement and hit my head so hard, blood was all on my face like it
had been stabbed. Started puking and was out of it. Eventually my
friend called the ambulance, and they put me in the stretcher.
My BAC was .288
Had a concussion - and was severely poisoned.
That was in college, 1st week of school. This spring semester.
So I am taking a break from school and getting straight again.
(Sober)
Also, I have to get a job and start paying for college, since my rents are done paying for it.

Sounds bad - Glad your friend called the ambulance.
I drank a lot (among other things) in college, too. Looking back, I wish I had focused more on my education - probably everyone does. I'm just glad you're here and hope you get the support you need to stay sober this time.

You were lucky to have someone call ...you reminded me of one of my drunken STUPID moves..we were at the lake. I got on an inner tube after ALOT of drinking..drifted out..way out. Thank GOD one of the guys I work with noticed..hopped in his boat and came to get me. I was passed out. Coulda drowned. I have many more..so glad I am no longer drinking. Not sure how I am still alive..
These are the memories that keep me sober.

Hey Jeb. I'm glad you're alive. It's important to take time to take care of yourself- school will be there when you're ready for it. Best of luck in your job search. I'm trying to get sober right now and I'm looking at non-AA groups in my area. Do you think something like that would be helpful for you, too?
You can do this.
The future is all yours. Freedom from alcohol can be a minute, a day, a year, or a lifetime and it's all up to you. Some (in my opnion) really over-complicate this whole issue. Perhaps even to the point where they inadvertently give alcohol some sort of Godlike power over the outcome of decision to reject alcohol.
Let's be realistic about alcohol. It is a liquid. It's inanimate. It has no mind, body or physical ability to force anyone to drink it.
If NOT tolerated, or associated with in any form, it is powerless over me. I can keep it powerless a day, a month, a year or a lifetime, without changing anything else in my life aside of "ONE SINGLE thing".... Not drinking ONE SINGLE type of liquid, alcohol. That's all there is to it.
The rest of the world and the rest of my life remain unchanged. I can do anything I want. The only thing that I have eliminated is one specific sort of beverage. Just one. Surely, eliminating one kind of liquid from my diet isn't going to kill me. LMAO. Seriously! Why over dramaticize it. Let's call it what it is. The elimination on a specific liquid from my diet.
No magic, no ghosts, not demons. Only me choosing sobriety for the rest of my life by living life as normal, without one type of liquid... PERIOD.
Good luck.
