How does valium & benzodiazepines differ?

I am not asking for any medial advice. Just to find out how people experience each.

Valium IS a benzo. Different people react different ways. I was given valium for "my nerves" when my stepsister was killed in an accident and it didn't affect me. It did, however, help with back spasms when I ruptured a disc in my back.

I've taken just about every benzo there is, and they all affect me differently. They are highly addictive, hard to come off, and often cause seizures when they are abruptly stopped.

Hugs and prayers,

Amy

To add to what Amy said...

jacknscoob if I remember correctly you are drinking daily in the evenings? If so, please don't mix alcohol with benzos; that's a very dangerous combination.

I've never taken Valium, but I've taken Xanax and the rebound anxiety was so terrible that I'll never take another benzo again.

Valium is a benzo.

There are 3 subclasses of benzo:

Firstly by type, they can be:

a: Anxiolytic (anti panic/anxiety)

b: Hypnotic (sleep inducing)

c: Anti convulsant

Something like alprazolam (xanax) might make one feel calm, whereas flunetrazepam (rohypnol) might put one to sleep, yes "roofies" the date rape drug is a benzo.

Of course how each person will react to each benzo is unknown before testing.

I've taken all kinds of benzos, they chemically alter the body thus causing a chemical addiction, which can be absolutely hellish to break. I will never touch another one for any reason whatsoever.

btw impurrfect is right, they can cause seizures, I had one, terrible experience.
