Hey Dee
I guess this site just wants you to drown before you can talk to anyone.
I'm sorry you had trouble michael - we try to keep the restrictions to a minimum but we have them for good reason - we get a lot of spammers on this site.
You can post to anyone here - just no posting of links until you get a certain number of days and posts.

Pretty sorry to spam a site where people are looking for help. I'm planning on going to my first meeting this Thursday night. I get the feeling, that until I go to detox I won't be able to completely stop, but I have cut back a lot. I'm sick and tired of feeling sick and tired. I tried laying off pretty much yesterday and this morning my hands were shaking so bad I could hardly write what I was working on in my lab book.
Welcome to the forum - you may want to talk to a doctor about withdrawals and see if you need detox. If you think you need it, go for it.
Getting support to do this is crucial. This is a great place to start, but there are other things you can do, too (AA, SMART, inpatient or outpatient treatment, etc.) Most of us can't stay sober on willpower alone.
Glad you were able to cut back a little - hope you continue to progress. I know the feeling of being sick and tired of being sick and tired. Things are so much better on the sober side. :ghug3

Hi Michael. You're on your way to joining a whole bunch of people who finally got it, or are getting it. Alcohol is an addiction. The way we recover from them is by allowing our bodies to cleanse from the substance, while considering the new way of life is absolutely doable, liveable and enjoyable. When it sinks in, the rest is history. You can do this. People do it every single day and can finally part ways with the foggy past, being a slave to a type of liquid.
Forward we go...side by side-Rest In Peace

Good job Michael. Quitting drinking and becoming a part of AA is the best decision I have ever made. I hope you liked the meeting, sounds like you did since you're going back. I don't know if you have a copy of the big book. If not, here is a free online copy for you Big Book On Line
For me, the Dr's Opinion was so helpful. It was the first time that I read something that described my alcoholism to a T. The mental obsession followed by a physical craving. BINGO... That's me. I wish you the best man. Just one day at a time. Keep coming back!
