Things will get better!!
Good morning everyone!
Just wanted to share a poem that a supportive friend emailed me last night. Hope it helps you get through the challenging days ahead. Wishing you all the best possible sober day!

THINGS WILL GET BETTER
When things aren't going well for you
And times aren't what they should be,
Just focus on the positive
And think about what could be.
Acknowledge what has happened-
Don't lose sight of lessons past-
But don't allow the negative
Distracting thoughts to last.
Take what you've learned and start from there;
Draw strength from your frustration;
And let this added sense of purpose
Be your new foundation.
It's hard to follow any plan
Precisely to the letter.
Though life right now is difficult,
Things will in time get better.
And times aren't what they should be,
Just focus on the positive
And think about what could be.
Acknowledge what has happened-
Don't lose sight of lessons past-
But don't allow the negative
Distracting thoughts to last.
Take what you've learned and start from there;
Draw strength from your frustration;
And let this added sense of purpose
Be your new foundation.
It's hard to follow any plan
Precisely to the letter.
Though life right now is difficult,
Things will in time get better.

Having the patience to get sober has been the hardest challenge for me. For some crazy reason I thought that I'd just stop drinking and my life would be perfect. WRONG...it takes time to right all the wrongs. It takes time to forgive yourself. It takes to time to learn how to live without your addictive behaviors. But in the end, things will get better.

OMG how true is that it does take time. For a number of years when I got sober I would stay sober for only 30, 60, or 90 days and then bam I would go back out. I truly believe now after having almost 7 years that the reason i did that is because I really thought like you, if I was sober than life somehow would be so much easier, or better, or maybe I thought it would be problem free. When life's problems would hit I would freak and also not working a program helped me go out to. lol. I still have to live in reality in that, life has its ups and downs I am never exempt from them but, how I react to them is what will make the difference? Keep the Faith
