2 years sober today
2 years sober today
My name is Lisa, and I am a grateful recovering alcoholic.
Today I celebrated 2 years of living without the need or desire to drink. I started the day at the dmv handling business, nice and smooth. Then I went to our local no-kill animal shelter and walked a bunch of dogs =)
a sober friend bought me lunch, another bought my movie ticket. 2 gals gave me a cake, another friend bought me dinner and yet another went out for ice cream with me.
Definitely need to hit the gym tomorrow
Before I got sober, I stayed home. . .a lot. When I first quit drinking, I thought my fun days were over, but thinking back, my "fun days" were spent at the computer, drink in hand. . .
8 of us recovery folk crashed the punk concert 2 weeks ago and had a blast. I plan to dance my way into the new year with lots of other non-drinkers. Christmas there were parties galore, and a pot luck at the local sober-club
My first taste of RECOVERY came from this website. My first year of sobriety, I read everything the library had on addiction and recovery, and I posted here on this site daily.
10 months sober, I discovered AA, and gained a fellowship of like minded and sober people who know how to party like rock stars without getting loaded, and have shown me infinite love and understanding.
I walk in the sunlight of the spirit. I have lived as a drinker, and I have lived sober, and I far prefer sober.
I drank for 28 years, every single day (with a pause for pregnancy) and I am posting to tell YOU, you never have to drink again if you don't want to.
