A last attempt
Sounds like you need a design for living. AA provided me just that and I've found a solution to my alcoholism.
...and I didn't even have to be ruthless, just willing. What a deal, but I'm not special. It's there for you too.

AA, counselling, medical assistance, SR, close friends to lean on, self-help books, fitness, journaling...
I'm just over 3 years sober and my life is incredible.
Started by reaching out for help and going full out.
Good luck!

Well, that was terse. Just as it was for me when I got serious and I got sober in 1987.
I decided I was no longer going to let this disease control my life. I decided I was NOT going to end up in rehabs every 3 years the rest of my life. I decided my life was not going to remain the same. I realized...and it became ingrained in me early on.....NO ONE....and NOTHING...NOR ANYPLACE can EVER make me drink or drug again.
The next one would be on ME!!! It was time to take responsibility for my life. It was time to grow up and learn to deal with life on life's terms.
It was time to MAN UP!!! Or WOMAN up, whichever the case may be!
Recovery starts with ME! You never have to drink or drug again. Good luck to you.

I can now go anywhere, even to lunches where others are drinking. They are responsibile for their actions, as I came to terms with. I just choose never to be associated with it again. We just have to realize we function without it better. It offers nothing positive.
