Peace on Earth
 

I am 41 days into sobriety and by no means have this licked, but I just wanted to share how I feel today.

I thought being sober through the holidays was going to be maddening. A couple of weeks ago I was filled with angst not knowing how I would get through it.

But today I sit here and I am at peace. I am looking forward to this holiday season because of the fact that I know I will not take a drink. There will be no regrets, no hangovers, and no embarrassing recollections. I will enjoy every second of it with my wife and kids. To know that my schedule will not revolve around getting drunk is a great feeling. I am just going to go with the flow and take in everything that I can. For the first time in a long time I am truly going to be present.

Hoping everyone has a great time over the holidays this year. Thanks to each and everyone of you, this site has been the greatest gift I could have ever received.

What a beautiful post, coop - I almost got a little choked up. What we imagine is going to be horrible (having to quit drinking) actually turns out to be a blessing. I love the title "Peace on Earth" - really what more can we ask for? Thanks again.....
