Hi Everybody, I'm new
Hi everyone, I am new to this site. i came across it and thought it would be a really good idea to join. I have been sober about four months now, and so far it's been a pretty positive experience. I was an opiate abuser for 3 years, and an IV user for 2 out of those 3 years. I just started one on one therapy and my therapist suggested going to a harm reduction group thats offered here on campus. I denied it because it is simply harm reduction, which means several people are probably still using, which I dont think I can be around. I recently made several changes to my life including STOPPED ENTIRELY talking to all my old "friends" who use, deleted all the numbers in my phone of people who i think can jeopardize my sobriety. I'm ready to live a drug a free life and I am optimistic. I realized that I am not alone in this, and I do have people who care about me. I have a lot of support from my real friends, and tremendous support from my boyfriend. I am a little nervous about going home for the holidays, since I have established a new life here at college and thats where all of my relapses have occured (relapses have happened at home), but i feel strong and have the proper support this time.
I look forward to meeting new, wonderful, people who are on the same path or trying to get on the path to recovery.
