I swept the floor today because it needed cleaned!

Not because I needed to stay BUSY!

I'm at 114 days sober now and SLOWLY my days are becoming less filled with the obsession and more about normal routine. That doesn't mean I don't still have those cravings come up, but they aren't nearly as often or strong!

It just dawned on me, I'm not doing things to keep my mind off alcohol nearly as much anymore. What a "light bulb" moment!

I'm glad to hear that you are feeling well.

and there is nothing wrong with having a clean floor, I like clean, it makes me feel much more at ease.

Clearhead,

I remember obsessing all day everyday about alcohol the first week. As the weeks go by it gets less and less. Before you know it your in the place you are. It may come up once in a while but nothing like the beginning. I'm so happy for you. Congratulations on 114 days sober!! Sweep on lol

Congrats on the 114 days!
51 days here
It is so much easier to not give up when we know it won't be perfect anytime soon. Thanks for letting me know if I have those at that time that I am not alone, and it is normal as we grow back. I am already telling myself to get off my axe and get more active too.

114 days is amazing, congrats!! I love this, because I hope to soon to things because I feel like it...Not because I need to keep my mind occupied.

That is great Clearhead, and I remember such moments myself on the way to recovery... maybe wouldn't seem so significant to someone else but can be momentous to those of us with this condition.

Nice to see the update Clear.

I found that when I was drinking I was a bit obsessed when it came to house cleaning. Always running around and cleaning (maybe subconsciously using a clean house to cover up my drinking.....who knows) but I find that in sobriety....well I clean because the house just needs to be clean. Nothing associated with it anymore other then my golden retriever's excessive shedding...haha.

In the beginning I was always thinking about drinking so it was a lot of work. I would see booze on tv and comment on it, I would get antsy and try and find things to do when at times when I used to drink. When I would get upset or happy it was a trigger for me so I had to work during those times too.

As time has passed it does get so much better. I feel human again

Thx for the post and allowing me to reflect here as well.

Keep it going

Good for you on your sober time! I'm finding the longer I"m sober, the more my energy and ambition are coming back! I take such delight in being able and willing to keep my house in order these days. I was such a slob when drinking...

Good for you! One of my life long mottos is (and yes I know it's lame) "a clean home is a happy home", no matter what else is out of control in my life I have a clean home because I can control that and it gives me peace.
