7 days today Hello all, I've been on here a couple times before and havent quite made it yet. Anyway, just wanted to check in. Right now I am on my 7th day of no drinking and no cigarettes (I actually quit the cigs for almost 2 months before starting up again). Its good to see the success stories, as well as empathize with those struggling as I am. Doing good tonight though! Just having a cup of coffee reading the posts. |
Congrats on the 7 days!! That's impressive to stop both at the same time. |
Welcome back Shane - well done on 7 days :) D |
Well, I really have no choice. Like a lot of people, for me they kind of go together. The drinking really lowers the will to stop smoking, amongst a lot of other lousy things. Thanks for the congrats... |
Congrats Shane..I had to quit both at the same time too. I actually used cigarettes as an excuse not to quit....oh...I've got half a pack left...I have to get a liter or two of wine to go with it. And while I'm at the packy ill grab another pack of cigs too. |
You go Shane, I quit the smokes 3 months after I stopped drinking, and 7 months sober now. You can do it!!! God bless you........... |
Shane glad to see you are back and picking up. Wish you well. |
Congratulations! I'm on day 2 and so happy to be waking on a Saturday without a hangover. Just felt the need to post as I could never give up smoking if I continue to drink. Unfortunately I still enjoy to smoke without a drink but nowhere near as much. As soon as I take a drink I literally feel the need to chain smoke so my hangovers are intensified by the doubled poison I put into my body. The ashtray is always totally overflowing and thats after having emptied it a couple of times. Urgh. I know the drink is probably killing me faster than the ciggies are but both of them will take me down alot quicker. Without the booze I can manage just having a couple a day if im not too stressed, sometimes none at all. Thanks for your post as it has given me a reminder that I have double the reason from health purposes not to pick up a drink. |
Glad to see you back here and one week sober!! :c031: |
Great start Shane! I quit a three pack a day habit and drinking at the same time too, although I still am on the patches for the smoking. Like Punkin they made each other worse than one habit alone. 46 days now and still going strong. |
Thanks to all of you for the encouragement. Its good to read posts from those farther along than me, as well as those starting out. Woke up with no hangover this morning, so life is good. Football games are a trigger for me, but I know I'll be fine today watching my #1 ranked Oregon Ducks! Anyway, I hope you all have a great day! :c031: |
Oh, and for those over the pond, also watching my favorite fußball team Bayern München today (who are currently winning). Visited Germany last year and absolutely loved Munich. Ja, Ich kann sprechen einige Deutsch. Aber nicht viel, and um, my grammar is lousy. Nicht mehr zwei bier bitte! Ha... Tschüss... (Bye!) |
Congrats Shane!! Keep up the great work!!!!!!!!!!!! |
8th day! Doing good. Drinking alot of coffee. I have to stay up all night to get back on night schedule for work tomorrow, since I work nights. Still no smoking or drinking. Sorry, went off on the sports thing, was just in a good mood. Plus, its a new thing for me to enjoy it sober. Hope everyone is good... |
Well done! I quit the smoking last year and now tackling the more destructive addiction. Day 3 for me. |
Congrats to shane keep up the good work xx |
Hey Shane, day 7 for me as well. It is nice to have so many success stories here, yours as well. :) |
Great stuff, Shane. Keep strong :) |
