Your job sounds like mine. I see what happens in jobs like these. It's considered useful and normal to drink in excess, to entertain clients, to keep the deals coming in. The drinking becomes a way to handle the job - in my company this applies to everyone, and therefore is considered a good thing. I am now having a month break from work - in this time I will be exploring alternative ways to handle the stress. Normal people wonder why so many celebrities, with all their money and success, end up drug addicts or alcoholics. It's good to be careful of what you wish for.

Well, if they were ordering 2 bottles of wine for 10 people then it sounds like most people are not big drinkers. Is there a chance you are over-estimating the importance of drinking in your job? I know I overestimated the importance of drinking, period. It was an obsession, really. Like someone who is obsessed with... I don't know... checking that the door is locked 53 times before going to bed.
