1 week sober

Hey everyone. I am new to this site, I am currently 1 week sober and I am feeling pretty good. I stopped drinking because I was becoming drinker. Drinking 6 - 8 shots of Rum a night for almost 2 years and it was messing up my life in relationships and in college. I also started to get very severe panic attacks after about 8 hours of not drinking. The first 3 days were extremely difficult for me because I had non stop anxiety, and I was pacing all over the place until I was tired enough to sleep.

This is only day 7, but the anxiety is down to minimal levels and does not last more than 20 minutes as opposed to all day. I know I'm on a quit high right now, but I have absolutely no desire to ever drink again, mainly because I don't ever want to feel that anxiety or panic again.

Anyways, enough ranting for now.. haha, thank you for taking the time to read it, I plan on using this site a lot for reinforcement of my sobriety. Take care and God bless.

~ JFA

Welcome Jfa! You have our support.

SR has been an invaluable tool in my recovery and I am glad that you are here.

At the end of my drinking years it seems that anxiety and constant panic attacks were the daily norm.

I am greatful to be sober each day. Know that anything is handled better in sobriety.

Looking forward to the journey.
