Vitamin B

In early recovery, which Vitamin B's do you recommend?

In other words, I've heard of B3, B6, B12, etc....do you need ALL of them?

Should I buy a B complex that contains ABSOLUTELY ALL types of B vitamins?

What is the difference between B3 and B12, for instance?

I take a Senior Complete multi (same as Centrum Silver) plus a B+ complex with C, a Calcium/ magnesium/ Zinc, and cranberry pills. Not giving medical advice which is frowned upon here, just what my daily regimen is.

I'm just taking a multi vitamin and have wondered the same...is there enough B vitamin in a multi vitamin on its own or did you take a b complex on top of a multi vitamin???

Very confusing..lol

I took a multivitamin daily and I added a B1 supplement. That is what I did and I consulted with my Dr. to be sure. I would suggest seeing your dr. to get their input.

For the most part.....eating healthy and taking the multi vitamin was enough for me. I only did the supplement the first 2/3 weeks.

All the best~

If you want to go above and beyond a multivitamin taken as directed, I'd always suggest seeing a medical professional for their opinion on your situation.

Too much of anything does not always mean better and is not always good, Kelly.

Thank you, Dee74, and all you others.

I KNOW we aren't supposed to ask for medical advice, but I just wanted to know if I need some vitamin support, sorry. I'll see my doctor.

Thank you, again.

I agree that you should talk to your dr.

For me, for some reason, my body doesn't absorb B vitamins very well. I have talked to my dr about this and I do take B complex.

My counsellor and Dr have told me that B1 (Thiamine) is the one we (ex) drinkers need most. You can get it over the counter at a pharmacy (at least here in Australia), I take a 250mg B1 tablet once a day.

Hope that doesn't count as medical advice as it's only a vitamin supplement.

I take a multi vitamin and a B1 and Ia am trying to eat really healthily. Lots and lots of water too is good, flushes out the toxins and rehydrates your body.

You can also ask a decent pharmacist, i.e. i learned that B12, which lots of people rave about, is fine as long as you have that vitamin deficiency otherwise can screw with your liver?! Blood test is always advisable!

As with any product I know of......
they all claim to be final ..wonderous answer
on whatever they are selling......

Supplements?
I kinda go by...."less is best" unless a doctor
tells me I need extra whatever.

I also thought that and this makes me think of my health now. Since I am now pregnant (another blessing of being sober for me) that my convos with drs and all my readings say there can be too much of a good thing. I actually can't have any supplements whatsoever unless my dr. approves it. The only thing I take is prenatal vitamin but that is standard.

I have learned so much about healthy eating and a well rounded diet (one that I lacked for many years) and all of what we need is found right there in our supermarket.

I am now eating a great diet and feel better then ever.

Just some thoughts I had.

Instead of taking supplements, I just go to Home Town buffet, and eat lots of all the food groups, just to make sure I cover all the bases, lol.
