6 Months...Thank You So Much!
6 Months...Thank You So Much!
Well gang, it's officially been 6 entire months since I last felt the need to drink alcohol. 6 months of learning who I am, how to live, how to do things sober and be there for people and just actually give a damn in general. AA has been a wonderful source of help and support for me, but it's not there for me 24 hours a day like SR.com is.
Lately I haven't been here as much as I'd like, what with school being back in session, a new job, less time at home since the state of Georgia not-so-politely asked me not to drive for the next 12 months and I have to take public transportation/walk, blah excuse yada. I need you guys, and you've been the largest source of support and inspiration and hope in this crazy stretch without the booze. Thank you so much to everyone here, and keep hanging out here. I'll try to do so more often.
If you're new to this way of life, if you're just trying to figure out whether you can even go a day without drinking, I say you can. And you can go the day after that without drinking. And even the one after that. If you ask those closest to me, even the ones who love me with all the hearts, I was a lousy, no-good drunk who threw away everything in his life for that Next Drink. I'm not that person today. I'm certainly not perfect, and I'm now realizing other flaws that need to be addressed, but I got the biggest one under control. Now I feel I'm equipped to tackle the other issues. And I feel that life is good, which is something I didn't feel 6 months and 1 day ago.
Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH! I love each and every one of you, and I'm so happy that we're all here together.

Hey well done! I am new to this forum and website and when I arrive home it will be 6 months for me also! I quit my drug of choice or rather it quit me Turned on me it did Best thing that could have happened I travel for work and this is the first trip since my awakening and I have to be very concious that I am away from home lonely I am away from the things that keep me secure angry I am keeping irregular hours and flight schedules hungry and do not sleep well in hotels tired! The good news is I have tools thanks to NA so I will stay on schedule with daily meditations and talks with my HP and one day at a time right? Take care

Thanks a lot, everyone! I'm headed down to watch my Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets beat the NC State Wolfpack, and I actually remember all the games now that I'm sober! See you all later. Have an awesome weekend!
