On the back of my car window
and the back of our Road King
we have a decal of an AA symbol.
I always like seeing it on other
cars while out and about or
on a trip letting me know that
Im not alone in recovery.
I always get this awesome feeling
inside. A joyful exciting feeling.
Also in my makeup bag i have
a small AA meeting book with
bits and pieces of AA material.
Phone numbers , friends names
from meetings and a religious
picture of my HP.
I set my picture where I can
see it daily in our hotel room
or if in the car i can reach for
lip gloss and see that picture
for inspiration.
I also have various AA pieces
of jewelry that i wear from time
to time. Wearing my AA symbol
on a chain around my neck is also
a reminder of my awesome recovery
program I live by each day.
It could also be a book mark, or
an AA picture as ur computer online
front page.
Anything and everything that
would remind you and keep
recovery close to ur mind and
heart.
Above my wide screen tv, my
husband and I have plaques
of all the saying you see at
an AA meeting.
In the center of that is a lighted
lighted neon AA symbol.
Much inspiration all around us
all the time.

Although I'm still very new to sobriety, how I"m going to handle these trips without drinking and still feel like I'm not missing out on anything is really scaring me.
I know I won't ever be able to have another beer or I'll be hooked again - but I'm scared I will think having a few glasses of wine will be okay.
If anyone out there has some tips for how I can make it through these situations, it would really ease the fear I have with this.

Wine has alcohol also so I'm sure you already know that it won't be okay.
I'll presume your husband knows that you have quit drinking because you have a drinking problem. So ask him to help you and support you.
If you believe in a Higher Power, I would suggest asking this Higher Power for help to stay away from a drink "just for today" each day and then thank this Higher Power for helping you throughout the day, each night.
Other than that. I wish you the best and hope you have a good time and enjoy your vacation sober, you deserve it.
God bless,
Harry
Just wanted to add about what to drink. Many good suggestions already given.
Dance, sing and be happy, live life to the upmost, sober.
Happy Vacationing
