Newbie

Just a "hi."
Newbie from Iowa. Two months sober. NO ENERGY. Had lots of energy the first month, but got a month long respiratory infection and feel pretty lethargic. They are sending me to a pulmonary specialist cuz i cant get all my wind and feel real tired.
I am bipolar tho, so not sure if this new sobrietys taking a toll on the downside of my disease. Im not sad or nothing, just no energy. I just feel like doing nothing on my downtime. Normally, I cant stand to see a messy house. I am going to school as a nontraditional single mama, I work, and come home and do NOTHING. Im tired, and I just dont care if my house gets messy....odd....
Can anyone relate??? Will my zippy little me come back???

awww I'm in zip-less mode right now too. although when I quit before it took a few months to get myself back to where I was....and I was amazed to see it DOES come back. for a long time I wondered.......

so yes, congrats on the 2 months - take time to do nothing for now and let your body continue to heal, and zippy you will be back before ya know it!!

Welcome AG

I think a lot of us feel a little fatigued...we've abused out minds and bodies for a long time - it takes a little while for that to right itself I think.

The best thing to do, if you're concerned, is see a Doctor, and I'm glad you're doing that

You'll find a lot of support here too - hope to see you around some more

Welcome! I'm glad you posted.

Is the lethargy from the respiratory infection? (or from being busy at work and school!)

I can relate to lethargy. I have been sick for 2 1/2 weeks- so tired. I usually exercise to improve my mood, but I am too tired to do much and I am afraid of getting sicker if I push it too much. I am just 18 days sober; I am so bummed to be sober and so miserably tired!! So I can relate to your post.

I hope you like it here at SR!!! Keep posting.

Congrats on your sobriety!

Years after I quit drinking....I was diagnosed with COPD
so my breathing/lung capacity has been limited by that
as is my level of energy.
It's agravating but can be managed with professional care.
Good to know you are seeing a specialist....

Congratulations on your sober time....glad you joined us

I hope that you feel better soon!

Do talk to your dr about physical issues, and you're right, it might have something to do with your bipolar disorder. Are you on medication for that?
