I prefer myself sober and logical....and that it keeps my depression from overtaking my life...I got up this AM with no issues (except and intense desire for coffee), showered, took care of my pets and did a load of laundry....walked a mile with the dog and am sitting down for a few to answer work emails and watch morning news.

if i was drinking i would have missed the picture of the 9 lb. lobster someone caught! and now i have an appetite too.

and i am very happy that i have taken my $$ i used to spend on wine and paid off an additional 7 months on my mortgage!

Agreed! Never, ever thought I could be the sober one....or if I did get sober that I would revel in it!

Great thread to start the day!

for the most part, i agree. being clean & sober is certainly way better than than the pain and suffering of addiction. but sometimes sober life isn't awesome. the girlfriend dumps you, grandma dies, your dog get hits by a car, you lose your job....

but that has nothing to do with sobriety, that's just life. and without sobriety i wouldn't get to experience these things, i would just run from them.

Here here!! Indeed sober life is awesome and precious is it not?

I won't drink to that, but I'll do a jig instead!

*well maybe not a jig - I can't dance*

Great thread !

When I look back on life now I could kick myself for wasting so much of my life on Drinking, I honestly thought I would never start living Sober. My Only Daughter is having a Big White Wedding next year and I have already decided I wont be Drinking....not even a glass of Champers, I am going to remember EVERYTHING about my daughters wedding and treasure every moment!

I love my life now, i didnt think it was possible to be happy without drink, infact it is Better tenfold!

Love to all...without you guys for support I would have still been a Mess! xx

And being sober is a big confidence booster too. Overcoming active addiction is a big deal. Having done that gave me the confidence to take on other problems areas in my life.

I agree with each and every one of your post. I think you have to go through the bad in life to be able to see the beauty in it. Being recovering alcoholics have allowed us to appreciate a sober life. I don't think I would change it if I could. It was my path and where it has led me is a wonderful place free of ego. I see the big picture!

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart!

Day 23. My personal best!
