Day 446
Day 446
A co-worker asked me yesterday how many days since my last drink. I couldn't think of the exact number, so I said "over 400". I had to get out the "sobriety calculator" to find the actual number (445). It got me thinking about how much I've changed in the past 14+ months. Here are just some of the benefits I've seen so far:
I always get a good night's sleep and wake up refreshed and ready to face the day.
No more anxiety/paranoia.
I'm almost always smiling and I laugh a lot more.
No more cravings/thoughts of getting drunk.
I take the time to stop and appreciate the little things.
For those who don't know, I drank 12-18 beers per day, EVERY day for 10 years and binged 2-3 times per week for the 20 years prior to that. Just a little over a year ago I thought for sure that I'd die a hopeless drunk. Now I can't imagine drinking even one beer.
I've been able to recover without any formal program. Thanks to everyone here at SR for helping me along the way. I'm living proof that's it's never too late to change.
