Day 9 And Feeling FINE! Woo-hoo!
Day 9 And Feeling FINE! Woo-hoo!
Today is my 9th day of sobriety. It's amazing how much has shifted since I admitted I had a problem and decided to stop. The first few days were difficult, not so much because of my desire to drink, but just from the process of my body ridding itself of toxins etc. I finally began to physically feel better on day 4, and it's gotten better every day since.
Having a plan in place helped - eating right, targeted nutritional supplements, regular exercise, staying in the moment all have made a big difference. The best thing of all, though, is the feeling of being clear headed and balanced. I had read here recently that alcohol can amplify anxiety, which I experienced in droves. Now, it feels like my anxiety has lifted and I can function at a much higher level. It's shocking to realize how much my drinking dulled my senses, among other things.
It feels SO good to:
Wake up in the morning looking forward to the day instead of dreading it
See my face is no longer puffy
I approach problems and challenges a lot more creatively and openly
Be back at the gym and working out regularly
Reconnecting with activities that fell by the wayside when alcohol became a priority in my life
Learn how to be in the moment, and find things to appreciate, no matter what's happening
OK, I've had some insomnia, and some evening bouts of sugar cravings, big deal. I've tried 3 new flavors of ice cream I've never had before! Small price to pay for getting my life back.
I'm enjoying and looking forward to another sober day!
I'm really grateful for SR and all I've learned here...

Have you tried Ben & Jerry's Cinnamon Bun Ice Cream? OMG!
Great work TacoDude... and it does feel great to have energy, enthusiasm, and a clear mind back... and to look forward to the day!!!!!!! Good for you, and keep it up.
I have 6 different types of ice cream in the freezer... Breyer's brand. Never tried a cinnamon bun flavor, it does sound great. Yeah, I, too crave sweets, but trying to cut back a bit this week.

Congrats on nine days and good to hear you're finally feeling human again. Feels great to feel great again, doesn't it? Keep on staying sober just for today. It adds up quickly and before long alcohol will just be an ugly memory from a past that's gone.
Living in the moment is an ability I'm trying to learn from my dogs... They're so good at that.

Congrats! I love Ben & Jerry's ice cream. Phish food is my favorite. Where I live, its hard to find Ben & Jerry's. I went thru all 3 grocery stores with no luck. Did find it at a gas station but not my fav. flavor. I have to actually go drive 45 min. away to a super walmart to get it! oh well. The price we pay for good ice cream! lol
Im happy u feel so great! It's nice to waking up sober!
