First I would like to say to everyone that has decided to stop drinking, good choice! I would also like to say, "Hold on to the thoughts or reasons for stopping when urges occur". This is what is getting me through. I drank 1/2 a case of beer daily for 25 years. 25 f****** years, what a waste! I used to get maybe one thing accomplished during a weekend off. Now I have difficulty thinking of all the things that I got done.
Urges still occur, but I say to myself, " 25 F'n years!". I don't want to waste the next 25 sitting on a couch with a beer in hand.
My sister in law got married yesterday and there were some tough spots. There was a party after the rehearsal dinner...., communion after the service......, and the reception. The toughest thing for me was not taking the blood of Christ. This used to be my first drink on a Sunday, prepping me for a long day of drinking and watching football. Got through it all and feel good today! Sober!

Awesome Jeff!! Congrats on your sobriety! My sister got married a week ago, so I know exactly what you went through. Rehearsal, bachelorette party, reception..... Whew. There were some tough moments, but I made it through also!
I have plenty of reasons I stopped and now that I know what sobriety feels like, I have plenty of reasons to stay sober. Thanks for your post!
