First Day Sober
My first day sober was 1 year ago today.
I am as close to getting drunk today as I was then; 1 drink away.
I practice "1 drink at a time." As long as I don't have that 1 drink, I will never have to get sober again.
I have never experienced the "I'll have just one" craving because I have never wanted just 1 drink.
Believe me, I drank ALOT for many years. I truly can't remember ever feeling like I had enough. I always wanted more!
Now, as long as I don't have that first drink, I feel like I have had enough.
Thank you to everyone who has written even one sentence here. I have spent hours and hours here, reading and learning. Every single one of you has helped me stay sober and I deeply care for each of you and your eforts to get and stay sober.
