1st Wineless Dinner Out!!!

All - Day 12 (almost 13) and first time in years I went out to dinner and drank diet Coke and not wine!! I am beside myself feeling so proud so I was excited to share with my SR family. People actually tried to talk me into sharing a bottle of red and I had to say more than once, "no". They asked why and I was vague (thinking inside - don't go back to day 1)!! I didn't let myself cross the line of even wavering - I let it pass through my mind in a shallow flash - didn't think deeper of how nice wine would be - this helped and worked! So people had 1-2 glasses of wine, I had 2 diet Cokes with lime wedge (just for fun) and had a great time. If I had wine 2 glasses would have left me obsessing about how much I wanted 2 more with dinner. And now that I am home I'd be drinking another 2 glasses as we speak and feeling tired and awful. Instead I feel tired physically but so proud of myself - I feel like leaping and shouting for joy - I am still day 12 - no one can take that from me!!

But importantly, I not only survived a wineless dinner out but I talked and laughed as much as anyone drinking and had a great time - I was myself and not a drunken enhancement of me!! So I know I can do it again and not avoid it and I was not boring or a sad sack or anxious. How reinforcing is this??? VERY!!! Thanks for listening. Just had to share with people who I KNOW will get it!!

Consider yourself multiply patted.

Lexie - Dig the multiple strokes - not giving me a big head but feels more like deeply felt hugs. I wasn't sure whether to start a new thread on this but wanted those who I have gotten to know and who followed my first thread to hear from me and not sure how deep people go into original threads since the journey meets all sorts of different challenges. So not intending to double dip but sure love the double hugs from you (as long as it is not double dipping into the bottle of wine!!

Murray - What is a virgin ceasar? I want to find a drink for when I go out that has a unique twist to it - sort of like a ritual which is why I decided to ask for a lime wedge although I actually have never asked for but it felt special making it sound like I was putting my signature on this small addition to a diet coke (I had planned this before I even got there)!! But for me any drink has to be diet - unless it is wine which is no longer on my drink list!!

I didn't know caesar's are mainly a Canadian drink, here's a recipe;

A non-alcoholic version of the great Canadian cocktail.

Ingredients

6 oz clamato juice
1 tsp tabasco sauce
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp ground pepper
1 tsp lime juice
1 tsp celery salt

Directions

Rim a tumbler with lime juice and then celery salt.

Half fill the tumbler with ice.

Pour in tabasco and Worcestershire sauce.

Fill glass with clamato juice.

Garnish with ground pepper, a lime, and a stalk of celery.

M - Ceasar Cocktail is a Bloody Mary!!! Sans vodka is a Virgin Mary - clear down to the celery and wedge of lime. Often people drink Bloody Marys in the morning. Virgin Mary is like tomato juice just with a kick.

Yup, pretty much, the only difference I see is that it uses clamato juice, which is tomato juice with a splash of clam juice (sounds gross - takes great).

Instead of celery, they serve it up here with spicy pickled long beans.

Mott's sells it in 12oz six packs.
